Can OS enable USB port?

My machine has 2 USB ports in back, 2 in front. The back ones work fine.
Neither of the front ports work.

I realize this is related to connecting to the motherboard, but is there a
way in W2K to examine each port and enable it?

Check the Device Manager for any yellow question marks, or if they
appear to be disabled.

Double-check that the front ports are actually connected to something.
If the computer is not name-brand, they may just be something that came
with the case, and need to be plugged into the motherboard someplace.

Only question mark is IIRC default- Other Devices- Raid Controller, don't
use anything like that.

Under USB, looks ok, a bunch of USB hubs

Will have to open the case, always fun.

As on my machine, if the ports are not connected, ie. the plugs put into the
appropriate sockets there is nothing the OS can do about - it is a matter of
opening the box and having a look.

You'll probably find they're not connected, I've seen loads of clones that
the builder's been too lazy to bother connecting up the front connectors.

To be more helpful. I built my own computers way back and I did not connect the
front sockets. I needed them and looked up the manufacturers data on the
motherboard.
There was a diagram complete with all the sockets and the wires were also marked
in the box - so it was a 10 minute job to connect all the pins.
Have a go - it is not rocket science.
