Can order number be displayed in a Form?

I have a Form set to 'Tabular' formatting, whereby ALL the records are listed. Is there any way to t display the order number for each record? For example, if five records are displayed, I want a 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 to appear at the far left of the records. I know that this can be done in a Report, but I haven't figured out how to do this in a Form. I'm NOT looking for something here that will permanently store this data, I just want the records to be numbered when displayed in a tabular Form.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Cheryl; I downloaded the example database off that URL, but when I try to open it on my machine, it requires a name and password. I looked around on the site to see if this issue was addressed, but I didn't see anything. Just that the author refuses to answer emails. Any ideas?

I just downloaded another copy, extracted the MDB file from the ZIP file and
opened the database. No password was required. It occurs to me to ask if
you have other databases on your pc which are secured by Access Security.
Perhaps that may be causing the problem.

Regarding not receiving an email response, many/most of the frequent
responders in Access, as well as other, newsgroups do not respond to private
emails. It is not a question of "refusal" per se but the belief that any
question and resulting answers posted will benefit others who use the
newsgroups as a reference source. Anything else is "unpaid consulting".

Thanks Cheryl, yes, that was exactly the problem. I was set up under a different database workgroup. I opened the file with no problem! Now to see if there's anything in it that I can use..

Oh, I wasn't being critical of this; I was just wanting to head off any potential suggestions that I contact the author of this database directly. Thanks for the help today

The author is an MVP and frequent responder to questions in the various
newsgroups devoted to Access. Should you have a question about the database
or need help in implementing it, Stephen Lebans will see your post in the
newsgroup.
