Can only use safe mode. Help!

I think I really messed up! I tried to change the
resolution on my Dell and now I can only start the
computer by unplugging & plugging in the whole thing, at
which point I get the Microsoft XP screen and then IT
GOES BLACK! When I press "f8" I can get into Safe Mode,
but as soon as I shut down, I have to start the whole
process again. How do I get things back to normal?
PLEASE HELP!

When in safe mode try
