Can not VPN out or share a directory "in" with workgroup

I had to completely reload windows 2000 Pro (for reasons
we will not go into) on my ThinkPad. At this point I can
not Microsoft VPN to any machines that I used to be able
to, and what I think is a sympton, I can not access my
machine via other machines in our workgroup. I
get "network path was not found". I can see my machine
in "computers near me" from other machines but can not
access "shared" files or directories.
 
Disable any Firewall software that you may running on the Thinkpad and try accessing resources again.
Can other PCs acess the Thinkpad resources by the IP address (i.e. \\ said:
From: "Curtis" <[email protected]>
Sender: "Curtis" <[email protected]>
