can not use computer without windows xp cd in driver

I finally got hooked up to the internet and i got a worm
virus, i have gotten rid of the virus i think but now i
can not remove the windows xp instulation disk. When i do
a screen pops up telling me to put the disk back in so i
can use the computer. is this because of the worm or do i
need to completly re-do the instulation of this disk?
please some-one help! thank you
