Can not type, program seems locked?

In response to my earlier post, when I try to type in Microsoft Home and
Student 2007, in the bottom right corner says "This modification is not
allowed because the selection has been locked." The tool bar does not work.
You can not click any buttons or type. I can not find help online or in the
help manual. Does anyone know what the problem is or if they have a helpline
for phone? I am sick of looking all over online and not finding what I need.

Either you have not activated the full version or the trial version has
expired and it's time to buy.

You can hardly have looked "all over online", because pasting that
phrase into a Google search box receives nearly a half million hits:

Generally, the message means one of two things: You have a retail copy
of Office that you have neglected to activate, or you have a trial
version that has expired.
