I just upgraded my Lap Top to Vista. I have BCM 2003 SP3. I have historically
backed up my BCM on my desck top and restored it on my laptop so I have
current data. Now I get an error saying that I can not recreate because I am
not the the user who created the backup. I read the blog from Mukesh. As
Administrator I am able to restore the data and everything works fine. Then I
exit out of BCM and when I get the error BCM for outlook DB can not be
loaded. This cannot be completed because BCM can not access the DB. It then
lists the BCM file it can not open. It points to where the file resides but
when I try to change the configuration it does not even see the files. When I
go back as administrator it all works again.

One other dumb question? If I am listed as Administrator under my user name
(I am the only user on the machine) why do I have to launch as administrator?
Arn't they the same if they both have full rights?

Thanks for any help.

Tom

Note that BCM 2003 is not compatible with Vista. We released SP4 in
February. Please install SP4 and see if that solves the problem.

To answer your second question.. In Vista, even if you are logged in as
administrator, all programs don't have full rights that an admin account
has. This is to prevent security attacks through viruases, worms etc. This
feature is called User Access Control (UAC). You can read more about UAC on
the web to understand it in more details.

Mukesh,

Thank you for your response. Actually I had installed SP4 but put SP3 up by
accident. So the new SP did not work. Any other Ideas?
