Using Office XP. Original workbook name was
Inventory.xls. I copied and pasted all information into a
new workbook called Test.xls. Keep in mind it has macros
in it (if it makes a difference). Both workbooks resided
on one computer. I tried to delete test.xls, and when
trying to save changes to the Inventory.xls (original) it
will not save, and says it is looking for test.xls. I
restored test.xls, and inventory.xls works correctly. So,
I took the Inventory.xls, and pasted it into the
test.xls. Deleted the Inventory.xls. I can use the
Test.xls as if it were the original, but test.xls needs
to be renamed and it will not allow for the name change.
It is not a read-only.
How can I change the name?

Have you closed Excel before trying the renaming and deleting?

What else can I check
After closing Excel and hitting control-alt-del, is there any Excel
instance left? If so, terminate it.

No viruses. Already checked that too. I have exhausted
the word troubleshooting on this one. That is why I'm
here asking.
If you can think of anything else. Please let me know.
I'll be back checking the next couple of days.
Thanks bunches,
