Can anyone please help me figure out why none of the webistes will show when
I go to Open Site / Network Places / localhost?? I just get the flashlight
looking for folders and then the error says:

"Docuemnts in this folder are not available. The folder may have ben moved
or deleted, or network problems preventing a connection to the server."

When I go to my harddrive and look in C:/INETPUB/WWWROOT - they are all
there..... I've gone into the IIS and restarted IIS - no help, I removed SE
on the default website and then reinstalled them - no help; I've googled for
the answer till my eyes are buggy ... surely someone has had this problem
before and knows the fix?

I've also tried to open files live (which I can) and then publish to
http://localhost/myweb but it says that it is unable to open - Server
error: - Web server at http://localhost doesn not appear to have Windows
Sharepoint Services installed and then lists the possible causes.

would sure appreciate some help!

thanks
Pam

Try opening IIS mmc and the FP SE admin to run a server health check before opening FP

let me see if I'm doing it right

I opened the FP MMC and right clicked on the /LM/W3SVC/1:

and chose check server extensions - it did its thing and no problems
reported

then I opened the IIS console and expanded the tree to open the Default Web
Site and right click and chose check extensions - all checked out ok on that
too.

I've also (before checking this) on yesterday - removed SE and then
reinstalled them ... still not able to open any webs from localhost.

any other ideas? or am I doing something wrong?

thanks
Pam

That's essentially the process
- only other thing to check is that you don't have firewall software blocking you

Well, still no luck - and the firewalls I'm using are ZA and AVG...they've
always allowed them coming in and I've checked to make sure they are still
on the ok list...

should I delete the whole fp and start over?? or/??

ok, checking ZA out - I do have a few questions - on the Generic Host
Process for Win32 Services - there is under Access - check marks - and under
server there is a check mark on trusted and an x on internet - under
Microsoft Office FrontPage - everthing is checked, under Microsoft Office
FrontPage Import Wizard under Access both are checked and under Server are
question marks.

Is there anything in particular I should be looking at - or should I shut it
down and then start over on ZA?

Did you get this sorted?

I had it and almost went mad trying to fix it. Bought a new machine to keep
going with my work.

A tech. from SharePoint Support eventually fixed it for me after FrontPage
Support gave up. Charged me though...

If you still need it I can dig it out...

Hi Pam:
I've been having the same issue for the last few days. One thing that helped
me was to close FrontPage, run FPCleaner:
http://www.95isalive.com/fixes/fpclean.htm (Clear the Hidden "Temporary"
Files
& Clear the Hidden Web Cache files (*.web) ) and then start FrontPage and
the local web would open.

Ok - I'm still working on this problem - I have uninstalled and reinstalled
IIS and FPSE - made sure to reboot between each one ect... ran microsoft
updates - for some reason can't get sp3 to install - but anyway - at this
point, I can now at least get LOCALHOST to open from within fp2003 when
clicking on File/Open Web/My Network Places/ Localhost - at least it doesn't
give me the error that files have been moved ect.... - however... there is
nothing there.

However, when I go to the actual drive and look under c:/inetpub/www.root/
all my websites are there.

I think I'm really close to fixing this ... now...how do I reconnect the
localhost so that it recognizes or points to c:/inetpub/www.root/ ??

thanks!
Pam

Deleting FP won't change anything - suspect it is ZA blocking you

AVG...they've

|
| should I delete the whole fp and start over?? or/??
