Hi,
i have 2 PCs, both connected via router to a HP Laserjet
5M with JetDirect Card.
Both PCs can ping the card and one pc can print without
any problems.
The other has the problem that he can't print. It stops
at 72bytes and nothing happens afterwards, doesn't matter
what kind of file i try to print.
All was fine several weeks ago, but i don't know what
kind of update or programm i installed during this time.
I installed the latest driver, deleted everthing,
reinstalled etc, but nothing seems to help.
After connecting the printer directly (lpt port)
everything works fine.

I hope someone can help me.

I installed now the "HP Install Network Printer Wizard".
He found the printer, installed the HP Standard TCP/IP
Port, configured everything, but the problem was not
solved :(

many thanks, that was the problem, my girlfriend seemed
to block the spooler, that's why i thought that this
couldn't be the problem

Is the Internet Connection Firewall enabled on the system that can't print?

You should leave the firewall on if it's your network's only line of
defense. Some routers also have firewall software. I know that enabling
the firewall will cause connectivity issues to the firewalled machine but
that is the point if it is the outbound host for other machines on the
network.

With that said, I'd like to know the version of the HP software you are
running to repro the issue and hopeful we can reach a solution where one is
protected and functional (for printing at least).

thanks
