I can not open any Active directory mmc. Users and Computers takes
this error: "Naming information can not be located because: the object
name has bad syntax." The Operations Master name is "ERROR". It
appears that the domain controller function is working because users
can authenticate on the domain.

Thanks for the suggestions, although none of them worked. I am
leaning towards a problem with Active Directory/DNS. I get an error
in the event log file replication that is having a problem with
sysvol. I ran dcdiag and recieved a couple of different errors
related to DNS. I used system tools/Active Directory tool and saw
something that looked odd. Although the domain is mydomain.com a
couple of lines had dc=mydomain,dc=com. Shouldn't it be
dc=mydomain.com?
