Vista Premium. Folders will not open in same window although I have ticked
box under folder options. HELP (please)

Hello,

I created a restore point, in case of problems ;) but so far, I couldn't experience any.

Greetings,
P. Di Stolfo

Hi Stolfo,

I've not tested that fix under Vista yet. I guess the Folder/Directory association settings would be different in Vista.

Hello,

this is for Windows XP, but the .reg could help you, too:

Please report if it worked.

Hallo P.Di Stolfo, tried your link but to no avail. Did not seem to do
anything. Any other suggestions? Bit difficult because of other problem. See
(Links will not open) in
Performance and Maintanence-- Could problems be due to McAfee Internet
Security Suite 2007 as not installed on this drive and no problems. Thanks
for help.

Any other suggestions on how to solve the problem? The open-in-new-window
feature worked at one time. It also worked earlier this week when I had
inserted a USB flash-drive on which I had recently copied some files. I was
surprised, closed the windows, and retried the same steps; this time, each
folder was opened in the same window. I think there are two ways to compare
the contents of two folders, the easiest being to open a "Computer" window,
navigate to the desired folder, open it, then repeat to produce another
window. The second,(untried) is to use the DOS-type "compare" command in a
Command Prompt window. It's been a long time since I used DOS, and I didn't
want to take time to experiment, nor experiment and cause a problem which
would require reinstalling Vista.
I also have McAfee's Security Suite (pre-installed and later upgraded to
Total Protection), and the "open-in new window" function worked with McAfee
installed, at some point. Of course, there have been many McAfee- and
Vista-updates since I first began web access. Thanks.
