Can not open files since update

Hello
I updated XP with the current critical updates last night and now when I
click + in explorer to expand the file list I only get a continuous hour
glass. What happened? I can not open files in excel or word either when I
click file open.

never mind I saw a post in the general xp group, so I uninstalled KB908531
and all is normal again.

How did you go about uninstalling that KB908531 update? The last time I
downloaded critical updates, they destroyed my sound, and I still haven't
figured out how to get it back.

hi, i have the same problem. could you please tell me how you managed to
install KB908531? what i found (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=918165)
requires some detailed procedure and seems to be dangerous for the computer.
is this what i should be following up or is there something simpler and
safer? thank you!
