I have been working on trying to network two computers in
my home office for a week now. I am using a D-Link
Express EtherNetwork 5 port switch. When I use the
network connection with windows XP, the computers do not
link to each other. I have talked with Several so called
experts and they say it is the other guys problem,
software, link switch and so on. Please help. Thank you

Tracie,

they should after a short time. Provided that they have anything
to share and the firewall is not mistakenly enabled on the local
network.

What do you see in Network Neighborhood? It is a bit more
convenient when you put the same workgroup name into each
computer. Check also the IP addresses (enter the ipconfig
command in a command line window), which should be similar on
both computers, and try to ping one from the other to see
whether the switch and cables are OK (enter the ping command
with the name of the other computer or its IP address).

Please have a look at http://www.michna.com/kb/WxNetwork.htm.
