Nick

I have a coworker that is trying to map a network drive but he can not. He
has other drives mapped and can get access to them. He can get to the drive
he needs by typing the path in explorer, but he needs constant access so I
need to find out how to get the mapping to work.

Hi
Can you describe how he tries to map, and what exactly happens when he tries
to map?
Jack (MS, MVP-Networking).

When he tries to map he opens My Computer and goes to Tools-->Map Network
Drive and selects the letter he wants to set the drive as. He then clicks on
browse and navigates to the folder he wants clicks OK and then clicks Finish
then a dialog box pops up which says access is denied. One thing I found
after posting this question was that on other computers all network folders
show up under the domain name section while on his computer the folders show
up under the workgroup section. I have tried removing and readding him to
the domain along with rebooting the computer but nothing has worked and it
still shows him connected to the domain.

Hi
A Folder/Drive can be mapped only if the Sharing is available.
If an Access Denied appears it means that the Sharing is Not clear and needs
to be first Re-Configured.
Make sure that the Software Firewall on each computer allows free local
traffic. If you use 3rd party Firewall On, Vista/XP Native Firewall should
be Off, and the active Firewall has to adjusted to your Network IP numbers
on what is some time called the Trusted Zone (consult your 3rd Party
Firewall instructions.

When done hard reboot all network computers and the Router.

All this should be correct because he had it mapped before but he can't map
it again and other people in the office have it mapped with no problem
