www.google.com returns error message cannot display page.
I could get to google a few weeks ago using that address.
Now my ISP cannot help me.
Six pages of 241344 Error Meassage: This Page Cannot Be
Displayed from Microsoft requires me to link to other
pages and become an expert computer technician :(
To fiddle around with delete, exporting registry keys etc.

I want to use your product not repair it.

At this point Microsoft and my ISP have an excellent
chance of hearing me say goodbye.

Shall I reinstall my operating system one more time!
or shall I switch to Linnux or a cable ISP?

Is there any real help for an unsatisfied user of your
products?

Thank You

With IE open, go to Tools > Options > Advanced. Scroll down to Search. Check
"Just go to the most likely site." Click OK.

trying using LSPFix.exe It worked for me for my problem
which was that i couldn't open any websites watsoever and
had to resort to netscape which a friend sent me through
msn feeeewww.... but yeah try that program very small it
worked for me you just run it and if you know what ur
doing change the setting on the screen if not click
finish can be found at http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Thank you for your reply.

My search setting is already set to "just go to most
likely site"

The other reponder's suggestion looks very promising,
however I am uncertain about it as I do have AdAware
installed and I am not familiar with regedit.

He suggested I go to http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm
and run LSPFix.exe that is a file found at that site.

Hi,
If you're only having a problem with google, please try the HOSTS rename.
Editing the HOSTS file is a little tricky, but not much. Renaming it, for
diagnostic purposes is easy and safe.

Try Spybot S&D. It may find something that Ad-aware missed.

Remove items listed in red- others are optional. Update Spybot after
download, before use.

I got google to come back.

I did a scan and clean of computer.

Then I explored "Hosts" and found 127.0.0.1 affixed to all
google sites. This prevented my computer from getting to
Google. I did not put them there. So I guess it was done
by Malware Spyware etc.

Thank you all for your help.

I will try and send another posting explaining how to get
into Hosts... etc.

I got Google back again. But I don't know for how long.

Here is how I think I did it.

1)I cleaned my computer using Adaware and then removed
Adaware using Start\Settings\Control Panel\Add-Remove
Programs

2) I scanned my computer using "The Cleaner" downloaded
after being found doing websearch words "" thecleaner
software download ""

3) I cleaned the computer using Zeroknowledge from
sympatico

4) Cleared out cookies and tempoary files etc.

5) shut down system and started it up again

6) HERE IS WHAT I THINK WAS ALL THAT WAS NEEDED TO BE DONE

I went into the Hosts file and backed it up or saved it to
a floppy. Then I went into the original Hosts and deleted
everything that was in it as I put none of it there myself.

Here is a site with good info on "Hosts"
http://www.accs-net.com/hosts/what_is_hosts.html

Here is how you get into hosts
start\find\files and folders
in the named field type " hosts "
no extention or file type is required as this is not a
file so I believe
click on find now

locate the one called " hosts " and back it up or copy it
to floppy using file save as etc.

Open the " hosts " file/folder whatever it is by double
clicking on it
do not bother to checkmark the box about always opening
with this program ( it seems to have no effect on this
file/folder whatever )

7) Save the now empty " hosts " shut down and start up
computer

Hope this continues to work for me and I hjope it works
for you.

P. S. It is a good thing the hammer was in the basement as
I was about to use it!

Thank You everyone for your suggestions ideas and help.

NOTE: I am heading for the basement to get that hammer!

Yes. Google came back but but BUT there is nothing in
my " hosts " file/folder and I cannot get to
www.bishopsu.ca and another site. :( :(

So again good luck. And keep smiling :)

It's time for you to get help from this forum. You are probably still
infected.
Go to MS updates also and download all the security patches.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det

http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")
