Recently, when I go to a new window, occassionally the window does not have a
"back" button and when I X out the window I lose all previous windows. As
long as there is a "back" button I am ok. What has happened and how do I
correct it?

Hi Bill,
Since you are insisting to be away from the right group try this:

1= Click start >> Control Panel >> Double Click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options, on the IE Properties window
you will see these Options:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs
| Advanced .

Click Advanced Tab and scroll under Browsing and select this check Box:
[&] Browsing
[ √ ] Reuse windows for launching shortcuts.
Click [OK] to close the IE properties window.
Next time you will open that site and try a link that have no Back Button
you can easily close that window without loosing the main/parent window and
been loged out.

If you have IE7 try to select the option for Opening new Tabs.
HTH.
Let us know.

The "Reuse" square was already checked. Thanks, again. I am waiting for
answers from the IE section you sent me to.

I would think you would want it un-checked, but I don't use IE7, or 6.....

But nass was correct in telling you to right-click and 'open in a new tab'
or window.

When the link opens in the new window/tab, you will not lose the starting
page. You can then browse thru that new page and go several links deep into
it, and when you're done with that one, just close it and the original page
is still there.

This is especially helpful when looking at search results.

Click Advanced Tab and scroll under Browsing and select this Uncheck Box:

Also it is god point from DanS to right click the Link and Select open in a
new window, some web pages designed to not give the user the option for Back
Button.
Be sure you don't have a third party protection software that blocking these
changes.
