Can not disconnect

I am new to Wiindows XP and I am unable to diconnect from the internet. The
other Windows O/S I have used allowed for a icon on the task bar to be right
clicked to disconnect. There is no icon in Windows XP.

Can someone help me out?

Open "Network Connections." (control panel) Right click the connection and
choose Properties. At the bottom of the Connections Properties sheet tick
"Show icon in notification area when connected."

Next to your clock in your System tray will appear an icon of two
computers. They will flash back and forth as you are "talking" on the
internet. Double-click that icon and press Disconnect.
