I have Outlook XP correctly configured in Windows XP Media Edition for quite
awhile. I now have Windows Vista Home Premium with Office 2007 installed. I
copied my exact configuration from Outlook XP to Outlook 2007 for my
POP3/SMTP MSN mail account. I can receive mail but can not send. I get an
error that my mail server coes not support the authentication method. What
has changed?

Double click on the account in account settings, then more settings, and
have a look around for things like SSL and encrypted connections, a lot of
consumer grade mail servers don't support things like SSL, it wouldn't
surprise me if Outlook enables this by default.

I have tried unchecking SSL and then using test account settings. Same
problem. I tried using the default ports instead of my existing ports of 995
incoming & 25 outgoing. Still no luck. It seems like it is something in
Vista because it works in XP

See if the information in this article helps. If it doesn't,
I'd suggest you either contact MSN's support or, if you haven't
done so already, post your question in a newsgroup devoted to
Outlook or MSN.

Thank You Nepatsfan.
It worked.
For some reason, the incoming and outgoing server names changed from
pop3.live.com & smtp.live.com to pop3.email.msn.com & smtp.email.msn.com

It is ironic that I am using MICROSOFT Vista with MICROSOFT Office and the
MICROSOFT network, yet all of my efforts through web support, e-mail support,
and telephone support through MICROSOFT did not get me as far as a New
England Patriots Fan can do with one link.
9-0 now 10-0 soon

You're welcome. Thanks for taking the time to let us know you
were able to get your email working.

Should be a great game this Sunday.
