Can not close Excel 97

Our company recently updated Groupwise. I believe that
this may have caused a problem in Excel. Several of our
computers now are having a problem with the module
GWXL97.xla. Specifically computers are unable to exit the
program via the X button in the top right corner. When
Excel is minimize the right click option to close the
program is also no longer visible. This problem is
baffling. Is it possible that the registry has been
altered?
 
If you go to Microsoft Knowledge base, type in product Excel, type in keyword
Groupwise and they have bulletins telling you exactly how to correct this
problem

I used to be unable to exit Excel 97. Then I unintalled
several programs, including Group Wise. Now I can exit
Excel 97, but I lost the file GWXL97.xla. It does not
exist on my disk. I need this file. If anyone can assist
with this, please respond.

I have had similar problems. I have never been able to

exit from Excel 97. I recently uninstalled several
programs, including Group Wise. Now I can close Excel 97,
but I can't retrieve or save any documents from within the
program. I apparently lost GWXL97.xla somehere along the
line. I no longer have my installation disk as I lost it
during my move across the country. HELP!
 
Your inability to exit from Excel is due to the gwxl97.xla file If you are
not using Groupwise -- why would you need the gwl97.xla file?
