can not clear clipboard

I have a small problem that I cant seem to figure out. I am not able
to copy and paste anything, in most programs it just does nothing but
in excel it does pop up a message saying the clipboard is not empty.
The MS Office clipboard does not show anything so I am assuming
soemthing is stuck (??) on the system clipboard and I do not know how
to clear it. Of course I tried a reboot of the system and that yielded
no results. Anyone have any other ideas??

Check Event Viewer for errors. Please post any error messages verbatim.
Start|Run|clipbrd.exe may provide some insight.
