can not boot to windows

my pc had been acting up so I have been using my laptop....wanted to
reinstall windows xp nut can not get pc to boot up shows windows screen then
goes black but mouse still shows up and moves.......any ideas other than a
new HD????

Your post is a little unclear about wether you actually reinstalled and got
the windows screen
or is that what you get when you try to reinstall..?????//
The normal procedure for reinstallation would be to enter your BIOS and set
the CD as 1st boot device and then
restart system with XP Cd in place. Watch for the messsage "press any key to
boot from CD"
Doing so should start the installation procedure.
