The LLTD allows XP machines to be seen on the Vista when 'View Map' is selected. Vista machines show on Vista with or without the LLTD installed on XP.
Most would suggest to not share the root of any drive.
Same usernames and passwords profiles on all machines ?
- If not same username/pw is the Guest account enabled on the Vista folder(select folder, sharing, in the popup window it should show Everyone and current user, type in the word Guest and select as co-owner.
Is printer sharing enabled on the Vista machine ?
Is Enable Netbios over TCP/ip selected on all machines(note" it is not the default setting)
Are all XP units Pro or mixed(home and pro) ? If all Pro have you tried turning off Simple File Sharing ?
Is the printer visible on the Vista machine, If so is the driver installed ?
Have you tried turning off IPV6 on Vista ?

: I'm having similar issues. I've seen some variations of this below, but none
: of the information has solved the problem... yet.
:
: Basically, I have three computers hooked up to a Belkin F5D7230-4 router: a
: new Vista machine wireless, an old XP laptop wireless and an old desktop
: wired. All are on the same workgroup. I did the Linked Layer Responder on the
: XP computers so that the Vista computer shows up in the WORKGROUP window. The
: XP computers ALSO show up in the Network Map on the Vista machine. However, I
: cannot open the Vista computer from the XPs and the XP machines don't show up
: in the actual Network window.
:
: I've got simple file sharing on the XP computers. The Vista is on a private
: network with file sharing on. I even tried to make the root directories of
: my hard drives on the Vista machine sharable. And most interestingly, the XP
: laptop and the XP desk top can still transfer files back and forth. So it has
: to be the Vista machine. I'd feel like an idiot but it looks like I'm not the
: only one having these problems.
:
: I've followed many of the threads below and tweaked registries and such to
: no avail. Is there anything I've mentioned above simply fixable? I mean
: really, how can this be so difficult?
:
: Thanks very much for any advice.
