Hi:

I switched from Cable to Verizon DSL and since I switched, I can no longer
use videoconferencing. I am now using their Westell 327W modem.
Verizon will not help me. Westell will not help me either.

From my own research, I found out the problem could be caused by the modem
because it's using NAT technologies.
I was told I should disable fast packet switching, but I have no idea on how
to do that.
On another forum, I was told to change the "port forwarding" of the modem.

I'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Internet GatewayFor port forwarding you could try:

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Westell/Versalink327W/MSN_Messenger.htm

I don't know if it will help, but if you have windows xp, you could try
setting up your system to have UPnP, which makes making connections across
broadband routers easier supposedly. Windows Messenger aparently can have
problems with domestic broadband routers because of something they do called
NAT.

If UPnP is already working, you should have an "Internet Connection" icon in
the Internet Gateway section of your pc's Network Connections window. At
least - that's what's in mine!

To get it working, You may have to install the UPnP Client in windows, and
enable your westel to use UPnP.

Here are some hints:

to enable the westel to use UPnP,
Enter the web-based setup for the Westel, go to Configuration, go to
Services, and checkmark the box to enable uPnP.

(I got this from a post http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,11940899)

to get the UPnP client going on windows xp, go to Add or Remove Programs in
the Control Panels window, click Add/Remove Windows Components, scroll down
to Networking Services and highlight it (single click), then click Details,
at the bottom of the new list, tick the check box for UPnP User Interface,
then click OK, etc.

If it all works, your pc should 'detect' yourwestell, and put a kind of tv
shaped icon in your system tray

Good luck,

Sacha
