Can no longer specify a static IP for my DNS server.

After trying unsuccessfully to re establish my SVR
resource recourds in my DNS server, and removing a
wireless Adaptor, I can no longer get the server to set
its static IP address.

On checking the network details I found that the server
had somehow been set to obtain IP address automatically.
I changed it back to the scorrect static IP and exitted.

On checking later I dicovered that the IP address was
still set to automatic. IPCONFIG ?all however reports
the correct static address.

Does anyone have any idea what is happening.

I have seen this happen before, and it's a PITA. I end up going into safe
mode, into the registry, removing all references to the network connection
in HKLM current control set, controlset01, 02, etc - then rebooting and
re-adding in the NIC.
