Can no longer search from address bar...

Can anyone tell me how to get the search feature back?
[where you just put "? fuzzy kittens" & hit enter to
search] I've tried changing settings in the Tools--
Options--Advanced tab but no go... I think this all
started since I somehow managed to p/up a piece of crap
that reset my search from IE to some crap search site
[and yes, I know better than to download & install
unknown things & I've downloaded/installed absolutely
zilch in months] I used AdAware & cleaned up a bunch of
things... Now, however, when I got to search for
something from the bar it does the following when it
type "? fuzzy kittens" & hit enter:

http:///? fuzzy kittens

Any idea what is causing this or more importantly how to
fix this?

Thanks.

hi,

you can try out the following steps to change the default search engine in
the internet explorer:

1. In Internet Explorer, click the Search button on the toolbar.
2. In the panel that opens at the left hand side, click ‘Change Preferences’
option available as the second last option, and then click ‘Change Internet
search behavior’ which is the fourth option.
3. You will get two options to change the ‘Internet Search Behavior’, click
the ‘With Classic Internet Search’, and then select the MSN option which is
the first in the list and then click OK.
4. Close and Open Internet Explorer for the changes to take effect.

i am sure your issue will be resolved with the above steps

im actually having the same problem, the searching from the adress bar is no
longer working. i've had this problem before but was able to get it
resolved. last time it was actually i would type my search into the address
bar and it would redirect me to a search engine i didn't use. but now it
doest the same thing as mentioned in the first post.

i tried the steps u reccomended into switching to the classic searching
mode. searching from the address bar is still not enabled.

actually i wanted to try the steps u reccomended again, but im not able to
switch back the to the default search mode, not the classic one, but the
original. any suggestions? thank u much.

hi Kay,

ok what you can try to restore the default search engines is,
1. open internet explorer
2. Click tools..Internet options
3. Click on the programs tab and then click on the "Reset Web Settings"
4. Click OK and the close Internet explorer

now try the search from address bar option and changing back to the default
search engine, try out the following step:
1. Click the search button on the toolbar
2. Now on the Search bar that comes up at the left hand side of the screen,
click the customize button
3. In the Customize Search Settings window, check the Use Search Companion -
..... option
4. Click OK and Close Internet Explorer
