Aloha all,

Can I use MM to create streaming video to put on a website? I'm part of a
dance group and we'd like to put snips of videos on our website so people can
watch clips of our performances.

Thanks,

TJ

yes, in that the WMV files saved by Movie Maker can be used for streaming
web-based videos.... but after making the WMV file in Movie Maker, it has
nothing to do with the process of uploading it to a server and setting up
the streaming... it's done with the server being setup to do the streaming,
and the HTML code to interact with the browsers.

ok, so MM is really used to capture the VHS video to .wmv? I have a Dazzle
vid capture device and program called Movie Star that captures video from the
TV/VCR into digitial onto the hard drive, I can select either AVI, MPEG2 or
DVD but the streaming thing is what I need to figure out.

The mpeg files I'm capturing now are pretty big, which is my problem. a 4-5
min video is 170MB, and 30-45 seconds is 20-30MB, so I'm trying to figure a
way to either shrink them down(compres more), or reduce the frames/sec rate.

I saw the MM2 Zero to Hero, and Visual Giude to MM books on Amazon and B&N,
and it looked like they had streaming references.. I'll see if I can find
those locally (PHX)

Thanks PJ,

TJ

Ok, after a search for MM (wasnt in the Program list), found it, got it
going, put some clips together, editted, etc. Now I want to load upload them
but I dont get any choices other than Neptune and Mydeo. I already have an
ISP which is hosting my website (with 5GB of storage), but how can I get MM
to send the file to it?

TJ

you can't.... uploading the movie to your ISP is via whatever process they
setup for you. Check their help info.... it's either an ftp process or a
browser based uploading, or either option.

once online, you can then link to the WMV file... but it'll be a file
download setup.... needing special software on the server to do streaming.

neptune is a file download service.... and mydeo is a streaming one
