Can map to part of our server drive, but not another part

Hi all,

Our XP server has one hard drive, but it's divided into
two separate folders: DATA and DATA_2. Most of our stuff
is in DATA, but our accounting software (that only a few
of us are allowed to use) is in DATA_2.

One of our users, also on an XP machine, suddenly can't
access DATA_2. We've been mapping F: to DATA and H: to
DATA_2, and all of a sudden, he began getting the
following window on his screen:

H:\ is not accessible.
Access is denied.

I've checked all the permissions, and they're all set
correctly. In fact, I've gone so far as to delete his
user account from the server and from his own machine and
create new user accounts, and the problem remains. I can
connect him to F: (DATA) but not to H: (DATA_2). The
drive letters are irrelevant also, as I've tried mapping
DATA_2 to F: and got the same error.

Our networking genius tells me we may have to reinstall XP
with the recovery CDs, but I can't imagine that such a
drastic step would be necessary.

If anyone can offer any suggestions or solutions, I'd
greatly appreciate it. You can reach me at
(e-mail address removed).

Thanks very much!

John

can some one logon and map to data_2? if yes, you may just need to rebuild
the profile.
