Dear Friends,

1) I bought a DELL DIMENSION 8300. Specs as follow:

Harddisk = 120GB Serial ATA (SATA).
- 1st partition (40G) = WinXP
- 2nd partition (80G)

Video card = 128 MB Nvidia GeForce FX 5200

2) When I tried installing LINUX 8.0 on my SATA harddisk, the installation failed and hanged half way. (No matter how many times i tried....!)

3) When I replaced the SATA harddisk with a Parallel ATA Harddisk, the Linux 8.0 installation is perfectly fine. The 40G Parallel ATA Harddisk is partitioned as follow:
1st partition (20G) = WinXP,
2nd partition (20G) = Linux 8.0

Can any kind soul enlighten me the problem with my SATA harddisk?
Can SATA harddisk actually support LINUX? Does the problem lie with the way I partitioned the SATA harddisk?

Thanks alot,
:-) Merrvyn

ya, This is a Windows XP Newsgroup. And there's no such thing as Linux 8.0. Contact the maker of the Distro of linux you wish to use.

Sorry, your question has absolutely nothing to do with Windows XP.
