Dear Friends,
1) I bought a DELL DIMENSION 8300. Specs as follow:
Harddisk = 120GB Serial ATA (SATA).
- 1st partition (40G) = WinXP
- 2nd partition (80G)
Video card = 128 MB Nvidia GeForce FX 5200
2) When I tried installing LINUX 8.0 on my SATA harddisk, the installation failed and hanged half way. (No matter how many times i tried....!)
3) When I replaced the SATA harddisk with a Parallel ATA Harddisk, the Linux 8.0 installation is perfectly fine. The 40G Parallel ATA Harddisk is partitioned as follow:
1st partition (20G) = WinXP,
2nd partition (20G) = Linux 8.0
Can any kind soul enlighten me the problem with my SATA harddisk?
Can SATA harddisk actually support LINUX? Does the problem lie with the way I partitioned the SATA harddisk?
Thanks alot,
Merrvyn
