Can Linux SuSe prevent W2K setup from seeing drives?

Hi.

I'm trying to install Windows 2K Adv. Server on an IBM xSeries 330. It has a
ServeRAID 4M controller and two 17GB disks in Raid 1. Linux SuSe 8.0 is
installed to take the full disk space. VMWare is also installed on Linux to
allow an instance of W2K Adv. Server.

I want to run W2K Setup and overwrite Linux. If I press F6 to add ServeRAID
4M driver during setup no drive is detected and setup prompts me it cannot
find any logical drive on the system. It then ends and prompts for
rebooting. Even Windows XP (for I made a test install with a Windows XP Pro
CD) cannot see any logical drive to install.

So my question is: could Linux and/or VMWare prevent from detecting drives?
How can I make sure drives can be detected?

Thanks for any hint/suggestion.

Although win2k disk management can "see" ext2 partitions...
when you run setup...they will not be recognized as a logical partition.

the best thing to do would be to totally delete the linux partitions
first...
you should be able to do that from disk management

Thanks, Philo.

How would you advise me to do it? With a DOS disk? from Linux (I don't have
any Linux knowledge)? ServeRAID CD doesn't allow me to modify partitions. It
only allows to create logical disks and disk arrays.

No...you can't use a dos disk
as i had mentioned, use disk management
go to:

control panel
administrative tools
computer management
disk management

your linux partitions should be listed, but without a partition type...
and you should be able to delete them

I would check IBM site: It seems like improper RAID controller driver. And
you cannot delete OS partition while you're within OS.
