Can two suitably sized pictures be printed on the same sheet of paper at the
same time using irfanview? At the moment I am printing one and reinserting
the paper for the second one.

I don't think so - someone *will* correct me if I'm wrong - probably in
30 seconds or less.

the paper for the second one.

That is *really* doing it the hard way. :(

There are many apps with good image printing capability. This one is
*very* easy to use:

Iomega photo printer (Freeware)
resize and print multiple photos and/ or multiple copies or print
thumbprints - jpg or bmp formats only

Infomation, screenshots and download link at:
http://www.netoffices.com/articles/software/iomegaphoto.htm

or go to:

http://www.iomega.com/software/listing/_archive.html
Download: ftp://ftp.iomega.com/pub/english/photoprinter72web.exe

(1089 KB) Known to work in WIN 9x/NT/2000/XP

more photoprinter apps are listed here:

Apologies for changing the subject - I thought you might like to know
about this alternate possibility. . .

Go to Irfan view "Image" menu and select "Create Panorama Image"

You can then add images either in horizontal or vertical oreientation
and then click "Create". Then save and/or print.

If they are different sizes you can change the size of one or both
before joining them with menu item "Image" then "Resize/Resample" then
save before creating panorama

Thanks for the info on Iomega. My problem with this is that Iomega does not
seem to keep the aspect ratio like Irfanview does. It gets close but the
image can be distorted. The others I will look into later.

Thank you I will try this out later - it sound as though this might work.
Can't try now as I have just had a sudden death of a niece who was 2 and a
half years old. She had Cerebral Palsy . Very sad.

Try this little proggie at http://www.jgraff.addr.com/index.htm

Scroll down to Easy JPG Printer. From the site:

Easy JPEG Printer Description
version 1.9

If you have a digital camera, you probably have discovered that
special print paper is very expensive. You also may have discovered
that those sophisticated graphics programs don't make it easy to print
snapshots from digital images. This program makes it simple to print
4" x 6" , 3" x 5" or 8" by 10" pictures on one sheet of paper.

Additional features:

Print preview.
Optional picture date annotated to picture border.
Optionally add descriptive caption to picture border.
Display camera and picture information stored in JPEG files.( Thanks
to the fine work of Gerry McGuire.)
Send picture pages via email.
Automatic picture contrast compensation. ( Thanks to Earl Glynn )
Automatic program update. Note, this feature may not function on
previous versions.
This program is Freeware, and can be used and distributed without
charge.

Gee Paul - that's dreadful - our sympathies - it must be a terrible
thing to loose a child

I did not notice in my firt post the similarity in our names - but I
guess you are not from Aus. like me

Yes strange that you are Pauline, and I am Paul Johnson. But I am in Canada
(orig from England).
Thanks for your (and others) sympathy over Emily - the funeral is on
Tuesday. She was born in Australia - her parents were working down there
from Canada - but decided to come back to Canada because Emily was born with
Cerebral Palsy. She was a beautiful little girl - physically - but having
CP she was incapable of speech, mobility, feeding herself and I am sure life
would have become increasingly difficult as she got older. I do not pay much
attention to children (have none of my own) but this little girl from soon
after she was born was a really stunning looking child and strangers would
say so to the parents. While they were in Sydney we visited them twice - I
loved the plave, Pauline.
Anyone can email me by simply removing "allspammedup."
