Hello,

I am useing Windows XP Home with IE6 at the moment.

I see that IE7 is now on the Windows Updates site.

My question is if I install IE7 can the IE7 update be rolled back to IE6?

Yes. It is said that when IE7 is uninstalled, one should auto revert back
to IE6 - but there have been probs experienced by some.
Would strongly suggest posting and reading the correct group for IE7
matters.

IE7 questions should be posted to the Internet Explorer General newsgroup as
below -

In your Newsreader:

If you need to use the Web Interface -

I had to go to start menu/all programs/systems tools/system restore, then
follow wizard. It almost totally crashed my mothers and my computer. Bad
deal I would wait for them to work out all the bugs first!!

In my case, NO. It didn't work. I had to do a checkpoint restore.

I have had no trouble with it.

I tested beta versions and every time I removed one it returned me to IE6
with no problem.

Have you tried rolling back the final? That's what nailed us. I uninstalled
IE7 and IE6 would not work. The checkpoint worked fine however. I now have
one of my machines on each and I will continue to compare results, but I am
happier with the old mouseover on Favorites. I may go to IE7 for the
security but I prefer the way IE6 works.

Follow-up - I got this from Ron May and it solves my problem - - -
You can hit "Alt-A" to access favorites the IE6 way, but yeah, I agree
that the NEW way of accessing favorites wasn't well implemented. One
GOOD feature of it is that you can open up a whole SUBFOLDER of tabs
by clicking the blue arrow on the right. Nice if your surfing
includes bringing up a group of websites on a regular basis.

Yes, I have tried that. Returned me to IE6 which seems to be working fine.

I'll reinstall it on that machine again tonight because I want to check a
couple things about the install process for IE7.

Reinstalled IE7 and worked without problems.
