Windows XP Pro and Home edition are not offered as alternative operating

Sure, put a MS server operating system on it or Red Hat or SuSE Linux.
Although not supported, SuSE Pro will probably work, too. I use SuSE
9.3 on my older PowerEdge 400SC for my main machine. Works great.

Ah. I noticed knode on o recent post of yours.......
On all of them! I have tried Pan (not lately though) which I see you use
but I've been using KNode for so many years I've gotten used to it. The
last time I tried Pan, IIRC you couldn't have multiple news servers
showing at the same time and switch quickly between them, which I like.

You can have multiple news servers but you access each through a separate
window. The one thing I don't like about knode is the inability to have a
post open in full-screen and then go to the next post still in
full-screen. I also found filters a bit flaky in knode......

Yes, I totally agree with you about the filters being flaky. But KNode
and I go way back and we are comfortable with each other's faults. ;-)

Maybe I'll give Pan another try when I upgrade to 10.1 later this year.
And now enough of the *nixing on a Windows group, eh? :-)

Cheers,
