Can I use the auto dialer in Outlook using a broadband modem?

I'm getting the impression that I need a traditional 28 or 56 modem to enable
me to auto dial a contact from Outlook. I just want to know if I can auto
dial from a broadband modem. I keep getting an "internal error" msg when I
try to start the call.
Thanks, in anticipation.....

do you have voip software? if not, you can't use broadband for voice or fax
calls.

Voice Over IP - it costs from about $13 a month to $30/ month, depending on
your service level.
