I was wondering if i can use MM on a security camera and
have the streaming video running on my web page 24/7. I
am using MS Front page.

Hi there,

The answer is yes but not with Movie Maker. If you go to the Microsoft web
site and look for the Windows Media Encoder (Its free) you can set up a
streaming connection to your website. There are things you should know
though...

1) Most ISP's do not approve of you using a streaming connection. It eats up
there bandwidth...my ISP actually makes it a cancel service agreement.

2) Because of 1) above I use a separate ISP for streaming my video from

3) I also use a security camera. What the software does is to detect motion
and then send a constant stream of pictures to an email address I have set
aside for this purpose. So when I get home, I download these emails to see
what set them off. They are all date time stamped. The software used for
this is Webcam and it comes with the Intel Web Camera Pro

4) I also have a webcam running when I am at home (Its down at the moment as
I am in the process of connecting a high definition camera to it. Anyway,
the software used with that one is called Webcam32. The basic package is
free, and the paid for package is quite cheap....can not remember now but it
was money well spent. Webcam32 is used for example on the Niagara Falls cams
and loads of places around the world. It even comes with a remote control
option.
