Can I use individual international settings per worksheet?

I use Excel with both European and U.S. data and number formats. I know I
can change this setting using Tools/Options but as far as I can see this
affects all worksheets. This means I can't have two worksheets with
different formats open at the same time.

This seems like a bad solution so I may well have overlooked something. Is
it possible to set this individually for each worksheet?

Hi

Tools/Options??? Isn't it Windows setting (ControlPanel.International)
instead?

Hi Willy,

The answer is "yes". You have to "custom" format the cell(s) for one format
or the other (even your own).

Choose Format>Cells>Number>Custom.

Experiment with a few dates in cells and get the formats you desire.

Excel has a setting which can override the international setting for
Windows.

Why would you need it? If you send a workbook with your international
settings to somebody with US settings it will change the date format
automatically.

Why not assume that I do need it? That might just be why I asked the
question... :-)

I have some spreadsheets that use live, continually updated data from U.S.
sources. These won't work with the European number format, so I have to
change the setting in Excel.

However, all my other spreadsheets now use the U.S. format as well, which
for example means that I now have to use a point instead of a comma when
entering data. Not very practical, which is why I'm looking for better
solutions.

I think many internationally oriented Excel users will have the need from
time to time to work simultaneously with spreadsheets that have different
international formats. Therefore it seems strange that it wouldn't be
possible to set the format individually for each worksheet. However, it
begins to look like that is indeed the case...
