Can I use Frontpage to edit an existing website? I am not sure what package
was used to set up our website, although I know it was someone who had just
learnt how to write in HTML.

If your ISP host does not have support for Frontpage Server Extensions, then
you will not be able to publish or open the site from Frontpage.

Now, you could edit a simple site in Frontpage locally on your hard drive
and upload it through an FTP program, but this would have to be a simple htm
site with no forms, visual basic or asp scripts and or access database.

If your ISP does have support for Frontpage on this site, then you should be
ok. Check with your ISP for Frontpage support.

Hope This Helps

You will also need access to the CSS file(s) if used and anything that my be
in 'private' folders etc.

If however the web has FP extensions enabled and working a full Publish via
http: back to local machine will bring everything down.

Why would it do that?

A publish is just a duplication from one place to another.

Why would it do what?...by "bring it down" I did not mean crash it, I meant
it will Publish the entire web and all files needed to the OPs machine where
he/she can edit it.
