Can I use FrontPage 2002 on my system if I do not have SP2 updates installed
on my computer?

Yes. Although you should install the updates so you have the latest
security patches etc. Not required for FrontPage but for your PC in
general.

Thank you David for your help. The reason I cannot update the SP2 is because
it severely crashed by system so I had to remove it. Can you answer a couple
of more questions for me please? First, I would like to buy FrontPage 2002
but I cannot locate a place to buy it. I would like to use the program in
conjunction with my Yahoo website that has the FrontPage option to upload
files. Yahoo website supports Frontpage 2002 but has problems with Frontpage
2003. Can you give me some advice for on this?

It's going to be hard to find FP2002. You could try eBay or Amazon and see
if they have it but FP2003 is the latest version. If Yahoo has a problem
with it then you could switch to a different web host. If Yahoo lets you
FTP the files (or upload them from a web page) then it shouldn't matter what
version of FrontPage you have.

If Yahoo supports FP2002, then they also support FP2003, whether they
believe it or not. Both programs use the same FP2002 extensions, which
Yahoo (allegedly) support.

Yahoo do not support SharePoint sites which FP2003 is capable of
editing, but I suspect your site will not be a sharepoint site.

Yes David, it is very difficult to find FrontPage 2002 and even more since I
am in Canada. I found one new copy in the USA which does not ship to Canada
and I am leery about purchasing on e-Bay. I have checked Amazon and numerous
other outlets already on the net. I should clarify that Yahoo does not
support all the Server Extentions for FrontPage 2003 which is why I am
hesitant to purchase the 2003 version. I am trying to avoid all glitches as
possible. I may just have to bite the bullet here. Can you give me your
opinion of Frontpage? I have never worked with it before I am want to try
it. I will probably down load the trial version but it is always nice to get
some user advice as I have read conflicting reviews from Amazon. Thanks for
your time David...it is much appreciated.

Don't worry about Yahoo with FP 2003. There were never any server extensions
released after FP 2002 so the only server extensions that FP 2003 can make
use of are the FP 2002 extensions. FP 2003 has additional features that can
be used outside of the Server Extensions through the ASP.Net technology
(which Yahoo doesn't support I believe). You don't have to use these
features though and FP 2003 makes an excellent editor all around.

You may try getting an inexpensive copy of FP 2000 or later then buying the
Microsoft Expression Web upgrade. I believe the upgrade retails for $99 and
it's definitely a nice editor with a number of excellent features. It relies
less on the server extensions than FP 200X and instead focuses on ASP.Net
though, but it is a very nice editor and on par with the best out there.

Thank you Mark...your post certainly does help in my decision to purchase
FP2003. Unfortunately I do not have any access at all to the previous FP
versions otherwise I would take your suggested route. I have read some of
the reviews on Amazon.ca about FP2003 and they sound more encouraging than
the reviews I had read previously on FP2002. So I guess I will purchase
FP2003. Again thanks.
