Can I use both C++ and C# Express versions of 2005 at the same time?

I have been using VS C++.NET 2005 Express as our company waits for the MSDN
full version to arrive. It is a pretty amazing free tool!

My question is I'd like to also do some VS C#.NET stuff too. So I'd like to
download VS C#.NET 2005 Express while we are waiting as well. Problem is,
although I've never tried, it says I have to uninstall all versions of 2005
before I can download C#.NET 2005 Express. So do I have to uninstall VS
C++.NET 2005 Express to load VS C#.NET 2005 Express? It's is VERY CLEAR that
uninstalling is a MUST (after all, isn't VS C++.NET 2005 Express a version
of VS.NET 2005?).

I'm pretty sure I can just download it and go, but thought I'd ask first...
: )

Specifically, it says:

Before installing, you must uninstall any previous versions of SQL Server
2005, Visual Studio 2005, and the .NET Framework 2.0.
I'm also concerned as to whether I must uninstall .NET Framework 2.0, as it
is likely the same one already installed with VS C++.NET 2005 Express. Wish
there was an 'install multiple' option. As we are going to get the full
version I sort or feel 'entitled' to both C++ and C# versions at once... : )

Well dummy me. I installed both c++ and c# express and I am compiling and
executing both. I have compiled c++/cli to dll and called it from C# 2005
express .exe.

You can install multiple express versions on the same machine and run them
all in parallel.

The key word in that sentence is 'previous'. The betas of the Express
Editions have been available for a while. The safe thing to do is to remove
the beta before installing the final product.

Will

Based on your experiences, I have now downloaded VS C#.NET 2005 Express and
both C++ and C# are doing fine... : )

You're probably already aware of this alternative, but if your company has
an MSDN subscription, you can simply download Visual Studio 2005 and install
it immediately. No need to wait for the December update.

Actually, I was not aware of this! Thanks! : )

That's how I got it and Visual SourceSafe 2005 as well. I think Visual
SourceSafe is a bit nicer now.
