can i upgrade from this?

hello,

i have win98SE and i was wondering if i could upgrade to either winXP
from this OS. i know you can from win98, however my erring is based
around the fact that my win98SE is itself an upgrade edition from win95,
not a standalone entity. my worry essentially is, 'can i upgrade on top
of an upgrade'?

if this is not entirely clear, please grill me further and i'll see if i
can clarify it some more,

thanks for the reply, just one more question. presuming i do a clean
install of XP upon a blank, formatted HD, which disc would XP ask for to
verify that it is an upgrade? win95, or win98SE(upgrade disc)?
