I have managed to back up my system onto a CD-R that had valuable data on it.

The CD-R was in the drive when the task scheduler ran and as a result it seems to have wiped my sensitive files. I thought that after something was burned that was it.

Anyway is there software to get the data back? Preferably freeware?

If the disc has indeed been wiped (test it on a few other drives/machines first before you come to this conclusion), then as far as i know, basically the answer is no. :(

You might be able to send it to a data specialist who should be able to get a good lot of it back, but don't expect it to be cheap!

Sorry,

the disk has saved the new data in an old session so I found a little program called isobuster at http://www.download.com which shows each session and allows you to recover any of them or all of them back to the HDD.

phew.

thanks anyway Matt.
