Can I turn a picture into an icon.

I have Word2000 and WindowsXP.
I cannot understand the "Object packager" and I need some other way to do
this.
Please help, Frank

To do what, more specifically? If I just look at the question in the
subject line, I'd say: copy it to a graphics program and reduce it to 16x16
pixels. But I get the impression that's not what you mean.

Does this result in an *.ico file? I store all my icons in a directory with
this extension.
