I have contacts in Office 97 on my current computer with XP. I want to buy
office 2007 standard version and transfer my contacts, about 2000 names.
Will 2007 accept these contacts?

Yes. Set up Outlook 2007 on the Vista system so that it's operational.
Then copy the PST from the OL 97 system to some folder on the Vista system
(like My Documents). Open it in Outlook with FiIle>Open>Outlook Data File.
You'll now have access to all the data it contains. You can open, for
example, the Contacts folder in it, select all the contacts with CTRL-A,
then right-click and drag the selection to the default Contacts folder,
choosing Copy when you release the mouse button. Once you've moved all your
data, you can right-click the added PST's root and choose Close to reove it
from Outlook.
