can I split contacts into two separate lists

I have almost 2,000 names in my contacts. i would like to have two separate
contact books so that I can download a shorter version to my car phone. I
cannot find out how to do this.
 
you might have limitations due to the software you use to synch.

You can easily create a new Contacts folder via File | New .... and then
copy Contacts to that folder via right-click drag and drop.

It's been a long few days making the transition to Office 2007, so bear with
me. Does the new Contact folder have to be a subfolder of contacts, or can
it be on the same level as the main Contact folder? I, too, would like to
separate business and personal contacts? Thanks!

You can do either. Outlook doesn't care.
