hi i currently have a XFX 6800 GT card and later in the future i was thinking about upgrading to the later 8 series when prices drop a lot. so i was thinkng can i SLi my 6800 with a 8 series? or should i just stick with 2 6800s cuz i play a lot of games and i still cant play some games on full quality.

thx

Both cards need to be identical for SLI.

2 6800GT's or 2 8800GTX/S not one of each. :)

No actually, u can sli two different cards... but the 8800's would have to downclock themselves to the same speeds as the 6800. So you are better off just gettin anouther 6800

something i heard long ago,
welll you can do it with the 6600 and 6800 series- not sure if it works on with new chipsets though

For SLI the cards need to have the same GPU and speed. But nevermind. Be a little patient. Today the US price for an 8800GTS is around $375 shipped. Vista and the ATI competiton for the 8800 series will be released very soon. When that happens, the price of an 8800 will surely fall. There should also be more mainstream versions of DX10 cards coming with even better prices. ANY of these SINGLE CARDS will blow away a pair of 6800 cards in SLI. Don't waste you money on a 2nd 6800 just for a few weeks of faster gaming. Like most upgrades, it's the jump from 1 generation of chips to the next that makes a real difference. In this case you are talking 2 generations- a big deal...
