Here's my situation ... I have a WindowsXP box running Outlook 2003. This
is where email is currently being POP'd to. I recently got an eMAC and I
want to know if I can install Outlook on it (I have Outlook 2001 for MAC)
and then read from the same .PST file that the WindowsXP machine is using???
The purpose of this is to be able to pull up info (Contacts, Calendar, etc.)
on the MAC, not necessarily to send/receive email. Thanks.

Since Macs and PCs store their data in completely different ways, I'd be
extremely surprised if they could share PSTs.

Outlook 2001 is for an Exchange connection only it doesn't support POP3.
You'll need Entourage for the MAC which is in the MAC Office suite.
Entourage doesn't support pst-files. Outlook for Windows is the only program
that supports it,

I'm told by one of the guys that worked on Outlook 2001 for the Mac that it
should be able to read the older form of the Windows PST files (the "Outlook
97 - 2002") data files. You may need to create such a file (Tools ->
Options -> Mail Setup -> Data Files...) and copy the information into it.

Yes, that's my understanding, too. The microsoft.public.outlook.mac group
might have more information.

Yes you can.

I've never tried putting Contacts and Calendar items into a PST file,
so I don't know for sure. Outlook for Mac is an Exchange-only product,
although it has an offline mode. You won't be able to send and receive
email without an Exchange server.
