Hi all - PPT 2002XP, WinME

Is it possible to save just an image as a png, gif, jpg or bmp in PPT? I
have some objects that I created and I want to save them as an image, but, I
can't. It is possible to save just the image and not the entire slide?

Sure is.

Right-click the object and choose Save As Picture. It should save to your
clip organizer, if I'm not mistaken.

If your objects are made up of a bunch of objects, you may need to group
them before doing this.

I have the image, and I made the background transparent and saved it as a
png (after clicking the Save As Picture. But, then I insert it, it has a
white and black background instead of being transparent. What did I do
wrong?

Thank you very much for your help, I really appreciate it.

Hm, probably nothing. I don't know that the Save As Picture thing is capable
of doing transparency. Is the background now two different colors, or is it
one (i.e., is it white and black, or is it white OR black)?

If it's two colors, you might be able to use the recolor tool on the Picture
toolbar to recolor the background colors so they're all the same and then
use the transparency tool to retransparentize (is that a word?) the image.

That might depend on what file type you saved the image as, though. If you
have an option to save it as a WMF or EMF, you might have better luck with
the recolor option.

Yes, it's two colors, white jagged first, then there's a black ouline around
that.

I had tried to transparency tool again, but, it did not work. I'll try the
WMF or EMF. It's for a image I want to use on my webpage, would either of
these be properly visible on the web for all viewers?

Ah, man, I dunno. I think I'd go with GIF in that case.

Yes! The GIF finally worked fine. I guess I was just not doing this right
before. Got is done now.... ;-))

Thank you very much for all your time and help. I really appreciate it. ;-)

Finally! I have one more quick question, though. Do you know of a good
font manager you could recommend? I need one for all my odd graphic fonts
to keep them out of my regular Font folder. They make it too big, and I
don't need them all the time, but, want to keep them on hand.

The only one I'm really familiar with is Adobe Type Manager. But I'm sure
others here have some good suggestions. Hopefully they'll pop in soon.

Check your CorelDraw CDs, ma'am. Draw used to and may still include
FontMinder. I don't know for sure that it's compatible with WinME. I'd check
on that.

I have an object in a WORD 2003 document but the right click does not show
Save As Picture.
Is this only applicable for ppt.
Thanks.

Just checked here, and I can't find such an option, either. So my guess is
it's just a PPT feature.

You might check in one of the Word newsgroups just to be sure, though.
