hi

My old computer had windows NT, and came with office, etc.
My new computer has XP and no office.
Can I run my old copy of photo editor on XP, or will i have to buy
another copy of office?
Can i install it off the disk in the usual way, or just copy it across?
Havnt tried either just in case this is a microsoft no-no and will kill
the computer.

thanks

mike

Hi, I have Office 97 on my pc with XP (SP2) which includes MS Photo Editor.
It all runs without problems.

IrfanView and XnView are free.

CAN you, yes. MAY you legally, it depends. If your NT system came
with an OEM version, technically MS will not allow your using it on
another system. If you had a retail version, you may have it on any
ONE computer. MS has changed some of their rules on retail versions
allowing, in certain conditions and with some versions (I'm not
knowledgable of details, check their website) you to have it installed
on more than one system.

If it was an XP or later retail version of Office, you may run into
problems getting it authorized on the web. You should be able to
handle it ph their phone system in that case. Again, if an OEM
version, MS says no moving is legal as I understand it.
