Can I replace motherboard without formatting?

I'm running Win2k SP4. I have an ABIT KT7A Socket A motherboard with an
Athlon 1.2Ghz cpu.

My USB ports are all fried. After a thunderstorm, they must have been
zapped via the DSL USB modem. I'd like to get the same motherboard and
avoid having to format. However, it's an old motherboard and I can't find
another. Ebay is to risky as people don't reply to questions and some are
selling boards "as is" untested. Is there another ABIT or board I can use
that will not require formatting?

Thanks,
Brett
