hi
I have a 98 plus xp dual boot system and i would like to remove 98 cause i
dont use it anymore its on C drive and XP is on drive D can i directly
format my C drive and boot up normally??is it possible..please tell me a
solution ..thanx in advance

No, you cannot format the C: drive. You can remove everything but the following files:

NTLDR
NTDETECT.COM
PAGEFILE.SYS
HIBERFIL.SYS
BOOT.INI

If you do format your drive, you'll lose the NT boot loader, and you'll be unable to boot into XP.

The short answer is that its not impossible, but the best advise is to
format the drive and start over with XP if you want to have stable OS for
the future. No you cannot do what you propose because critical system files
required for XP were placed on your C drive when you set up the dual boot.
